Include these points when you
contact Governor Easely:
- Please replace the Bonner
Bridge with the long bridge by-passing Pea Island.
|
- The long bridge is safer,
more reliable, cost effective and more environmentally sound
than the short bridge options.
|
- It makes no sense to split
the road leading to the bridge from the bridge – you can't
have one without the other. The long bridge is the only
sound long-term solution to the transportation needs of the
Outer Banks.
|
- The long bridge is safer
because it doesn't rely on the troubled NC-12, which
regularly gets washed over by sand, preventing people from
evacuating.
|
- The agencies can quickly
finalize their permits if the existing long bridge option is
selected, expediting construction.
